For a child the weight of the club is really important. Clubs that are too heavy will make them struggle to swing the club and make the swing erratic.
\nFor a junior club, it has to be graphite shafts. The steel ones are too heavy and may discourage the participant.
\nIt\u2019s not just about spending a lot of money! Sometimes the more expensive ones are the heavier ones and not suitable for youngsters.<\/p>\n
Clubs that are too long will lead to a swing that is too flat. Also, the longer the club length, the more difficult it will be for smaller and lighter juniors to swing and hit the ball in the air more often.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t try and buy longer ones at first thinking the child will grow into them. Bad habits can be created at this early stage that are difficult to correct.
\nGetting measured is an important part of buying clubs. Some manufacturers provide products by age but it is advisable to buy clubs for the height of the child not the age.<\/p>\n

There’s no need for a small child to carry fourteen clubs. Some of the longer clubs are harder to control and can put a youngster off.
\nA half set of clubs with fairway metal, 5, 7 and 9 irons and a putter is a perfect set for your child to begin with and other clubs can be added to the set eg. Driver, hybrid, pitching wedge.<\/p>\n

\nIt is however much better to fit the child into a more flexible shaft as this will learn the feeling of impact better than if the clubs have a stiffer shaft. Total weight, length, loft and set are important for aiding the junior to get the ball well up in the air and hit a solid shot.<\/p>\n
If given the right club set, the junior golfer will not only improve their performance quickly. They\u2019ll also have a better time and this may lead to them having a passion for golf lasting a lifetime.<\/p>\n
