Who we are
est 2025
Our mission is to empower and support each child, helping to set and achieve personal goals while building confidence and a strong sense of self
Established in 2025, Tearmann Care is a specialist care home dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing sanctuary for children aged 6–13 who have experienced complex developmental trauma and attachment difficulties.
Tearmann Care is built on core Social Work values that promote healing, growth, and stability for the children in its care.
- Safety – Creating a physically and emotionally secure environment where children feel protected and supported
- Trust - Building strong, reliable relationships with children through consistency and honesty
- Collaboration – Working closely with families, professionals, and the community to provide comprehensive support
- Respect – Valuing each child’s voice, experiences, and personal journey
- Empowerment – Helping children develop confidence, self-worth, and life skills to navigate challenges
These values create a foundation where children with complex needs can feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.
We are a social work service who have direct experience of working within residential care over the last 25 years, and who bring a wealth of experience in working alongside young people who are in crisis.
Our vision is to offer safety, healing and choices to the young people in our care and we feel that by creating the correct setting conditions and recognising that every interaction is an intervention.
…every interaction is an intervention
Here at Tearmann Care we will be drawing from many models including:
- trauma informed
- attachment
- neuro-sequential
- dyadic development psychotherapy
Doing so ensures that the children with whom we work with are given the best opportunity to thrive in our care, whilst equipping them with tools to thrive after they leave us.
Our senior members of staff are all TCI trainers and it will be our aim to ensure that all of our staff who work within the home will be TCI trained.Therapeutic crisis intervention is a model established in Cornell university NY and deemed to be one of the leading systems for implementing safe practices when dealing with challenging behaviours.
Each child upon admission to Tearmann Care will have a neuro sequential assessment. Each child will always be treated as an individual and will be at the centre of their care planning. Our approach is innovative and responsive to the complex needs of the children who require our support.
Joe has helped me a lot, a lot, a lot. He explains everything to me so I always know what is happening, and always treats me so kind, especially when I am sick, he looks after me. He has done the best for me that any dad would do for his kid.
Joe is always going above and beyond for the young people. He is an amazing advocate and his consideration and respect for the young people is admirable. Joe’s gentle and unassuming nature makes his presence so welcoming.
Joe works in a trauma informed way keeping the young persons needs central to his care planning whilst ensuring his work is respectful and professional and in partnership with all the professional involved. Joe is very supportive of his colleagues and leads with care and compassion to everyone is involved with.
